Currently,nomemberoftheGeneralAssemblymayservemorethan
eightyearsinanyonehouseoftheGeneralAssembly,normorethan
16yearstotalinbothhousesoftheGeneralAssembly.
Uponvoterapproval,thisconstitutional amendmentprohibitsa
memberoftheGeneralAssemblyfromservingmorethan12yearsin
anyonehouseoftheGeneralAssembly,andmorethan20yearstotal
inbothhousesoftheGeneralAssembly,beginningJanuary1,2032.
AlsobeginningJanuary1,2032,thisconstitutional amendmentwould
prohibitanymemberoftheHouseofRepresentatives fromservingas
SpeakeroftheHouseformorethanfouryears,andanymemberof
theSenatefromservingasPresidentProTemoftheSenateformore
thansixyears.
