FISCAL ANALYSIS
ASSUMPTION
§226.1250 – Alexander Whalen Safe Highways Act
Officials from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) assume the following
regarding this proposal:
This bill would require the installation of wrong-way vehicle detection systems at certain
locations throughout the state.
$100,000 one-time per site for installation
$10,000 per site for maintenance and replacement costs
$70,000 per year for software and integration with dynamic message signs
$20,000 per year for real time alert system
$50,000 per year for studies
$500,000 per year to meet requirements of educational campaign
MoDOT assumes 1-5 locations might be identified per year. This would result in a first year
impact to the State Road Fund of $750,000-$1,190,000.
Oversight does not have information to the contrary and therefore, Oversight will reflect the
estimates as provided by MoDOT. Oversight assumes the fiscal impact will be ongoing as new
sites could be identified each year. L.R. No. 2657S.01I
