MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Judiciary B By: Representative Bell (65th) House Bill 4005 AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO KENDRONIKUS POWELL OF HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Kendronikus Powell of Hinds County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of strong armed robbery in Hinds County, on September 20, 2013, for which he was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was released on March 4, 2015, and discharged on September 9, 2015. He was sentenced on March 7, 2016, in Copiah County for the crime of possession of firearm by convicted felon for which he was sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was released on December 6, 2016, and discharged on January 6, 2018. The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
