                    MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Creekmore IV House Resolution 115 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2024-2025 INGOMAR ATTENDANCE CENTER LADY FALCONS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.      WHEREAS, the 2024-2025 Ingomar Attendance Center Lady Falcons Basketball Team reigned supreme at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Championship, claiming the program's third consecutive state title; and      WHEREAS, on March 1, 2025, fans crowded the Mississippi Coliseum to watch the Lady Falcons showcase their exemplary skill and determination on the hardwood, and the team's outstanding performance did not disappoint as they clinched the championship title in a stunning 58-28 victory over the East Union Attendance Center Lady Urchins; and       WHEREAS, following the tip-off, the Lady Falcons came out swinging with a 10-1 lead to begin the game, and they relied on their swift feet, strategic maneuvering, and athletic prowess to outlast and outplay their opponent, sometimes leading the scoreboard by as many as 33 points and finishing strong with an 11-1 run in the fourth quarter; and      WHEREAS, Bookkeeper Melissa Reed kept a watchful eye on the game, diligently tallying every point, free throw, turnover, and foul from the moment the game clock began to run until the final buzzer buzzed; and        WHEREAS, the team has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, winning 26 of their matchups by 20 points or more this season and pulling down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games; and      WHEREAS, Cadie Jo Byrd, a multitalented athlete who has signed with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to join their volleyball team, dominated the game with over 20 points and was deservedly named the State Championship MVP; and      WHEREAS, MHSAA Class 2A Miss Basketball and Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year Macie Phifer also gave an exceptional performance during the championship game, and though she will move on to play with the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders after graduation, she will remain in the Lady Falcon record books as the leading scorer in program history with more than 2,500 points scored over her career; and      WHEREAS, the Lady Falcons' ascent to the pinnacle of basketball excellence has been made manifest through the tenacious efforts of the team's athletes:  Issie Riddle, Lexi McClarty, Daylen Grisham, Tyrani Jones, Rivers Ashley, Kaitlyn Turner, Carys Ball, Macie Phifer, Ella Hart Wilbanks, Bella Phifer, Makynlee Dillard, Cadie Jo Byrd, Mallory Mathews, Baylee Glasson, Peyton Wray, Marissa Bell, Miley Roberts, Maggie Nance, Rachel Weeden, and Addi Morgan Mayo; and       WHEREAS, the Lady Falcons have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Trent Adair, Assistant Coach Katherine Downing, Strength and Conditioning/Trainer Jeremy Dorrough, and Volunteer Coach Laura Hogue, who have broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution, leading the Lady Falcons to their fourth state title in the last five seasons; and      WHEREAS, in their tireless dedication, the Lady Falcons have built a basketball dynasty that has amassed 14 state championship titles for their school, demonstrating their ability through perseverance, leadership, and hard work to live up to the tradition recognized throughout the State of Mississippi that personifies Union County basketball; and      WHEREAS, the members of this distinguished team will surely treasure the memories they have made throughout their incredible 32-2 season, constantly flooded with the feeling of greatness that accompanies being a champion as they look with pride upon their banner hanging in the Ingomar gym; and       WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by the Lady Falcons, and it is with great pride that we congratulate this elite group of student-athletes who have brought honor to Ingomar Attendance Center and to the State of Mississippi:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2024-2025 Ingomar Attendance Center Lady Falcons Basketball Team upon winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team for continued success in all their future endeavors.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Ingomar Attendance Center Lady Falcons Basketball Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
