                    MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Powell House Resolution 128 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2024-2025 JACKSON PREP LADY PATRIOTS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE MIDSOUTH ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS (MAIS) CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.      WHEREAS, the 2024-2025 Jackson Prep Lady Patriots Basketball Team reigned supreme at the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class 6A State Championship, successfully defending their 2023-2024 state title and claiming their 10th overall; and      WHEREAS, the championship game proved to be a nail biter, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as the second quarter closed with a tied score before Presbyterian Christian School gained a 22-19 lead at the end of the third quarter; and      WHEREAS, rallied by the support of their fans and their coaches, the Lady Patriots never waivered in determination and mental stamina, and with only six minutes left on the game clock, the team gained the lead with a mid-range jump shot from Claire Crosby quickly followed by a 3-pointer from junior forward Meg Barbour; and      WHEREAS, the team used this surge of momentum to stage an outstanding comeback, ultimately outscoring their opponents 18-7 in the final quarter and clinching the championship title in a 37-29 victory over the Lady Bobcats; and      WHEREAS, throughout the year, the Lady Patriots relied on their swift feet, strategic maneuvering, and athletic prowess to outlast and outplay their opponents, closing the season with an impressive 26-7 overall record as they claimed the program's third state championship title in the past four seasons; and      WHEREAS, the key to this dynamic team's success has been the amazing team spirit and hours of diligent practice put in by athletes:  Abby Duncan, Ann Elise Walker, Ann Magee Stradinger, Meg Barbour, Cate Bailey, Grayson Garriga, Taylor Caton, Lella Rutledge, Claire Crosby, Maggie Bailey, Caroline Cross, Grace Watkins, Aubrey Bailey, Torrey Polk, Morgan Grimes, Reese Russ, Lily Grubbs, and Bella Vance Dallas, with the support of the team's managers: Meredith Kalahar and Emily Head; and      WHEREAS, the Lady Patriots have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Michael McAnally, Assistant Coaches Keavy Noblin and Allie Gordon, Athletic Trainer Nick Ramsay, Sports Performance Trainer Rusty Burke, and Athletic Director Will Crosby, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution, leading the Lady Patriots to their fourth state title in the last six years; and       WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by the Jackson Prep Lady Patriots Basketball Team, and it is with great pride that we congratulate this elite group of student-athletes, who have brought honor and pride to their school, their community, and the State of Mississippi:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2024-2025 Jackson Prep Lady Patriots Basketball Team for winning the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class 6A State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team for continued success in all their future endeavors.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Jackson Prep Lady Patriots Basketball Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
