                    MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representatives Carpenter, Mattox House Resolution 88 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING CATERPILLAR, INC., ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING.      WHEREAS, Caterpillar, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives, officially turns 100 years old on April 15, 2025, and is commemorating the momentous occasion with celebrations throughout the world this year; and      WHEREAS, in 1925, inventors Benjamin Holt and C.L. Best, both innovative pioneers who independently sought new ways to perform hard work faster, simpler and more efficient, merged the Holt Manufacturing Company and C.L. Best Tractor Company to form the Caterpillar Tractor Company, initially offering five models geared toward the agriculture industry; and      WHEREAS, since its humble beginnings, Caterpillar, which conducts business on every continent, has helped its customers complete infrastructure projects that have shaped the modern world into a better, more sustainable world; and      WHEREAS, with 2023 sales and revenues of $67.1 billion, the international company boasts a full-time workforce of more than 113,000 employees in more than 600 facilities across 65 countries speaking 84 languages, all living by those values that have guided employees since the beginning and which were ultimately published in Caterpillar's Worldwide Code of Conduct in 1974:  Integrity; Excellence; Teamwork; Commitment; and Sustainability; and      WHEREAS, for over 50 years, Caterpillar, Inc., has been a vital part of industry in northeast Mississippi, having grown from just 11 employees in one building to over 1,600 full-time employees on its Corinth campus, comprised of five remanufacturing facilities and logistics warehouses, and in the Booneville plant; and      WHEREAS, at its Mississippi remanufacturing facilities,  Caterpillar employees are engaged in the ultimate form of recycling as they return end-of-life, broken and blemished products to like-new condition, providing customers with the same performance and reliability, at a fraction of the cost, of a new product while greatly reducing the impact on the environment; and      WHEREAS, north Mississippi's Cat Reman, considered Caterpillar's flagship facility for large engine remanufacturing worldwide, is building a legacy of safety, inclusion and innovation, quality and teamwork, leading the way in innovation and technology to help its customers build a better, more sustainable world; and      WHEREAS, the steady growth in size and scope of the Corinth Caterpillar Reman's operations is attributed to its talented employees, who demonstrate on a daily basis a passion for safety, a focus on quality, and dedication to the company's core values; and      WHEREAS, while Caterpillar's innovative equipment and machinery are hard at work on job sites across the globe, the Caterpillar Foundation is working to build thriving communities, and since its creation in 1952, the philanthropic organization has contributed more than $935 million in 110 countries, including $147,000 in support of 19 Mississippi nonprofits, to help restore natural ecosystems, build basic infrastructure services such as water and energy, and create the workforce of the 21st century; and      WHEREAS, as Caterpillar reflects upon its success over the last century, the company is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow and looks forward to the next 100 years of evolving along with the needs of its customers and seeking innovative new ways to do work faster, better and more efficiently to help its customers build a better, even more sustainable world; and      WHEREAS, on the occasion of Caterpillar, Inc.'s, 100th anniversary, it is most appropriate to give special recognition to this world leading manufacturing company that not only is helping to shape the world but also is bettering the quality of life in the State of Mississippi and particularly, the northeast region, as a major employer and outstanding corporate citizen committed to its local communities:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Caterpillar, Inc., on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and extend our sincerest wishes to the company for continued growth and success for countless years to come.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Caterpillar, Inc., in Corinth, Mississippi, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
