MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Local and Private By: Senator(s) Chassaniol, Jordan Senate Bill 3267 (As Passed the Senate) AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GREENWOOD UTILITIES COMMISSION TO BOTTLE AND SELL WATER SOURCED FROM ITS MUNICIPAL SUPPLY DIRECTLY TO CONSUMERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: SECTION 1. (1) The Greenwood Utilities Commission is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to bottle and sell water sourced from its municipal supply directly to consumers. The sale of such bottled water will diversify revenue streams, create local jobs and promote the high quality of Greenwood's natural resources. Any revenue derived from the sale of bottled water under this act shall be for the sole purpose of reinvesting in the infrastructure of the Greenwood Utilities Commission. (2) The Greenwood Utilities Commission shall comply with all state and federal health, safety and labeling regulations governing bottled water production and distribution. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
