                    MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Younger, Whaley, Michel, Berry Senate Resolution 105 A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE CAREER AND PUBLIC SERVICE OF ROGER BARLOW, LONGTIME PRESIDENT OF THE CATFISH INSTITUTE (TCI) AND EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT FOR CATFISH FARMERS OF AMERICA, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.      WHEREAS, we join the membership of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation in honoring the public service and dedicated career of Roger Barlow, longtime respected President of The Catfish Institute (TCI)and Executive Vice President for Catfish Farmers of America, on the occasion of his retirement; and      WHEREAS, Roger Barlow has spent his entire career in the business of agriculture in Mississippi and beyond; and      WHEREAS, for the past 22 years, Roger has served as President of The Catfish Institute, and 19 years ago, he took on the added role of Executive Vice President for Catfish Farmers of America; and      WHEREAS, these organizations cover the marketing, public relations, lobbying and constituent relations for the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish industry, the largest aquaculture segment in North America; and      WHEREAS, prior to joining The Catfish Institute (TCI) and Catfish Farmers of America (CFA), Roger worked as Bureau Director of Marketing at the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce for 14 years, where he served under commissioners Jim "Buck" Ross and Lester Spell.  He also spent seven years with the farm credit banking system and, in his youth, farmed row crops in Hinds and Madison counties; and      WHEREAS, Roger holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Mississippi College.  He and his wife Susan have two children and five grandchildren, all of whom reside in their hometown of Madison, Mississippi; and      WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we acknowledge the marketing career of this Mississippi citizen which has contributed to an environment in which the Mississippi catfish industry can thrive and continue to grow:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize the career and public service of Roger Barlow, longtime resident of the Catfish Institute (TCI) and Executive Vice President for Catfish Farmers of America, on the occasion of his retirement, and extend to Roger and his family our best wishes for future success.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Roger Barlow, forwarded to the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
