MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Whaley Senate Resolution 116 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHEER TEAM AND HEAD COACH BRANDON CASEY FOR WINNING BACK-TO-BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE OPEN ALL-GIRL TRADITIONAL DIVISION AND SECURING A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE OPEN COED GAME DAY DIVISION AT THE UCA NATIONALS IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer Team, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Brandon Casey and Assistant Coach Rainy Bordelon, has achieved remarkable success by winning back-to-back National Championships in the Open All-Girl Traditional Division and securing a National Championship in the Open Coed Game Day Division at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Nationals in Orlando, Florida; and WHEREAS, the team's exceptional performance at the 2025 UCA Nationals saw them claim the Gold Medal in the Open All-Girl Traditional Division with a final score of 82.9, finishing ahead of their competitors and demonstrating their skill, dedication and perseverance; and WHEREAS, in the Open Coed Game Day Division, the Northwest Cheer Squad achieved a stellar victory, earning a raw and event score of 94.8333, finishing ahead of top competitors; and WHEREAS, the hard work, dedication and teamwork displayed by the Northwest Cheer Team members exemplify the highest standards of collegiate athletics, bringing pride and recognition to Northwest Mississippi Community College and the State of Mississippi; and WHEREAS, the team's success is a testament to the commitment and support of their coaches, families, friends and the entire Northwest Ranger community, whose encouragement and belief in the team's abilities have been invaluable; and WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer Team Roster: Shannon Agnew, Lily Anderson, Jaci Arrington, Mattie Atkinson, Anna Marie Axton, Ellie Barnes, Loren Beck, Gracie Bishop, Zoe Boos, Lorie Buckley, Kaylee Crain, Anna Marie Davis, Josie Dawson, Brynli Doty, Payton Feagin, Jenna Flint, Bethany Folks, Abby Frazier, Mabry Gaines, Aleria Griffin, Alaina Harrist, Davis Hayes III, Kaitlyn Hicks, Mary Landon Hodge, Jane Adair Houston, Jeffery Jones, Trevor Kelly, Madison Langston, Maggie Langston, Sania Liner, Bylar Malloy, Sara Maloney, Emily Mann, Maggie Marble-Barrett, Truitt Mayhue, Sydney McAlpin, Saleeria McBride-Horne, Hollyn McDaniel, Allee Belle McMinn, Reine McRight, Sydney Mize, Allyson Morrison, Madison Nelson, Sara-Addison Oxner, Paris Parks, Mikaela Perry, Mabree Phillips, Cooper Poe Hannah Potter, Caroline Powell, James Powell, Huntley Pressnell, Dasia Smith, Natalie Styron, Katie Tadlock, Rachel Tadlock, Hollyn Tanner, Alex Turner, Katy Ware, Marquayvis Williams, Katie Wood and Syncere Yates; Head Coach Brandon Casey; and Assistant Coach Rainy Bordelon; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend excellence in collegiate athletics, especially when demonstrated by student-athletes who bring distinction and honor to their institutions and our state: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer Team and Head Coach Brandon Casey for winning back-to-back National Championships in the Open All-Girl Traditional Division and securing a National Championship in the Open Coed Game Day Division at the UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida, and extend best wishes for their continued success in all future competitions.
