MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Rhodes, Kirby, Harkins, McCaughn Senate Resolution 135 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE EAST RANKIN ACADEMY PATRIOTS BOYS SOCCER TEAM AND COACH REID WESTOVER FOR WINNING THEIR FIRST EVER MAIS DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, on February 13, 2025, six teams hit the field at Jackson Academy to compete in the 2025 MAIS Boys' Soccer Championship. The East Rankin Academy Patriots took on Heritage Academy for the Division II Championship; and WHEREAS, it was a Patriots vs. Patriots battle as East Rankin and Heritage Academy took the field. This was the first time in program history that the East Rankin Academy boys soccer team and Coach Reid Westover had made it to a championship, and they were ready to leave it all out there; and WHEREAS, after the game went scoreless in the first half, East Rankin Academy found a way to make the one and only goal of the game with only 7 minutes left. The East Rankin Academy Patriots made school history by winning the Division II Championship, and Head Coach Reid Westover was speechless; and WHEREAS, the 2025 East Rankin Academy Patriots Boys Soccer Roster: Andy Bowman, Cale Cotnam, Cole Cotnam, Austin Craig, Noah Craig, Channing Diveley, Jackson Fountain, Callan Hunt, Michael Kanengiser, Toler Logan, Jordan Porter, Hector Ramirez, Jon Riemann, Nic Riemann, Jonathan Soto, Chylen Williams, Landyn Williams and Head Coach Reid Westover; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their team, their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the East Rankin Academy Patriots Boys Soccer Team and Coach Reid Westover for winning their first ever MAIS Division II State Championship and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Reid Westover, forwarded to Head of School Robyn Winstead and the East Rankin Academy Board of Directors and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
