MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Barrett, Berry Senate Resolution 38 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ADDIE CARVER FROM MONTICELLO AS THE FIRST REPRESENTATIVE FROM MISSISSIPPI SINCE 1987 TO WIN THE NATIONAL "MISS TEEN USA" TITLE. WHEREAS, seventeen-year-old Addie Carver, a native of Monticello, Mississippi, is the first representative from this state to win the National "Miss Teen USA" title in 37 years; and WHEREAS, August 1, 2024, will be a day 17-year-old Addie Carver will always remember. "It's been something that I've been working so hard for a very long time," Carver said. "So living out this dream that I've had since I was a little girl just means the world"; and WHEREAS, Addie stated, "I'm from a very small town, Monticello, Mississippi. Not many people live there, but we're such a close-knit community, and that's what I really love about it. They recently named a day after me at my homecoming ceremonies"; and WHEREAS, Addie Carver, Miss Teen USA, is making headlines not only for winning the national title but for her work in dance and as founder and CEO of her own social media company; and WHEREAS, Carver is not only the founder and CEO of her own social media company, she is a dance teacher and choreographer. She teaches dance three to four nights a week. Carver said, "Dance knows no age, no background and no race, and more than anything, dance can save a life just like it saved mine. So that's a big message I want to share this year." Carver credits dance with saving her life after losing her father; and WHEREAS, this is Carver's senior year. She is making plans for college and her future career. Miss Teen USA says she plans to attend the University of Southern Mississippi. Her plan is to have a career in Marketing; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this young Mississippi citizen whose accomplishments have made history and brought pride to her family, her community and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we hereby commend and congratulate Addie Carver from Monticello as the first representative from Mississippi since 1987 to win the National "Miss Teen USA" title, and we extend the best wishes of the Senate to Addie for future success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Miss Teen USA Addie Carver and her family, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
