FRAZIER UPON HIS RECEIPT OF THE PRESTIGIOUS SOUTHERN LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE (SLC) "THOMAS B. MURPHY LEGACY AWARD" FOR DISTINGUISHED LEGISLATIVE SERVICE. WHEREAS, we join the members and leaders of the Southern Legislative Conference in recognizing the outstanding legislative career of Senator Hillman T. Frazier who is one of our longest-tenured members; and WHEREAS, the Thomas B. Murphy Legacy Award formally known as the Longevity of Service Award, is presented by the Southern Legislative Conference to a Southern State Legislator who has distinguished themselves by dutifully serving their constituents during their years in the Legislature and actively participating in the Southern Legislative Conference; and WHEREAS, at the 2025 Southern Legislative Conference Convention, the Conference is honoring Senator Hillman T. Frazier for his service to the State of Mississippi, serving in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1980-1993 and as a member of the Mississippi Senate since 1994; and WHEREAS, his service to his constituents for over 40 years is a true example of the Thomas B. Murphy Legacy Award!; and WHEREAS, Council of State Governments (CSG) South is proud of its members, leaders, and the states it represents. Throughout the year, CSG South presents a series of awards to recognize valuable contributions made by its government officials and staff in the 15-state southern region; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we acknowledge this prestigious award given to our Senator who has brought honor to his family, his community, the Mississippi Legislature and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Senator Hillman T. Frazier upon his receipt of the prestigious Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) "Thomas B. Murphy Legacy Award" for his distinguished legislative service, and extend our best wishes to Senator Frazier for many more years of distinguished service. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Senator Hillman T. Frazier in conjunction with the Southern Legislative Conference Thomas B. Murphy Legacy Award and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
