AN ACT TO CODIFY THE RULE OF THE STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS STATING 2
COVERED VOTERS VOTIN G A NORTH CAROLINA M ILITARY-OVERSEAS 3
BALLOT ARE NOT REQUI RED TO INCLUDE PHOTO IDENTIFICATION WHEN 4
CASTING A BALLOT. 5
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 6
SECTION 1. Part 1 of Article 21A of Chapter 163 of the General Statutes is amended 7
by adding a new section to read: 8
"ยง 163-258.21. No photo ID required. 9
A covered voter voting under this Article shall not be required to include a photocopy of 10
identification described in G.S. 163-166.16(a) or an affidavit as described in 11
G.S. 163-166.16(d)(1), (d)(2), or (d)(3) when submitting a ballot in accordance with this Article." 12
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to ballots cast on 13
or after that date. 14
