The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
The purpose of LB 21 is to amend section 49-202.01 to change the requirement for
constitutional amendments introduced during a special session of the Nebraska Legislature.
Under current law, all constitutional amendments are submitted to the Secretary of State at
least four months prior to the general election. Under LB 21, constitutional amendments
proposed during a special session must be submitted to the Secretary of State at least 60 days
prior to the general election.
