Summary of purpose and/or changes:
LB 108 would amend the Cities of the First Class Firefighters Retirement Act to change contribution rates for both the
city and firefighters in certain cities of the first class.
Under the bill, beginning March 1, 2025, each firefighter employed by a city of the first class with a population of more
than sixty thousand in a county with a population of more than one-hundred thousand and covered by an absolute
coverage group will contribute a sum equal to 6.5% of their salary to the retirement system.
Beginning March 1, 2025, each city of the first class with a population of more than sixty thousand located in a county
with a population of more than one-hundred thousand which employs any firefighter covered by an absolute coverage
group will contribute a sum equal to 13% of such firefighter's salary to the retirement system.
LB 108 contains the emergency clause.
