The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB111 would compel that insurers utilize original equipment designated by manufacturers
(OEM‚ parts) for replacement parts and components in their repair estimates when a
vehicle is less than thirty-six months old, and when a vehicle is more than thirty-six months
old, allow for other aftermarket replacement parts and components to be estimated by the
insurance company, but use of such aftermarket replacement parts, rather than OEM parts
must be conspicuously disclosed in writing to their insureds.
