LB120 as amended by AM247 would modify Nebraska §60-484.02 to allow the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the
Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) to enter into an agreement for the release, use, protection, storage, and retention of a digital image from a
motor vehicle operator’s license for use on the NSP Missing Persons Clearinghouse website. The NSP’s use of the digital image from
a motor vehicle operator’s license is authorized as long as the NSP has deemed the individual missing and cannot be located. The
NSP must:
1) Carry out protection protocols to prevent the fraudulent use of digital images;
2) Create and make necessary updates to security measures for their access, storage, and retention; and
3) After notification that the missing individual has been located, the NSP should remove the digital image from the NSP Missing
Persons Clearinghouse website within three business days.
This bill as amended has no fiscal impact to either the NSP nor the DMV.
