The examination shall be required to be simulation-based or manikin-based. Also, the reciprocity requirement for a dental license is reduced from 3 years to 1 year. SECTION BY SECTION SUMMARY: Sec. 1: Requires applicant for a dental license to pass an examination consisting of the Integrated National Board Committee Statement: LB148 Health and Human Services Committee Page 1 808eb117bdc04a97600cfe43d4195af6 Dental Examination, both Part I and Part II of the National Board Dental Examination. Requires applicant for a dental license to demonstrate the applicant’s psychomotor skill in clinical dentistry by passing a standardized national examination approved by the Board of Dentistry (Board). The current language requiring the practical examination administered by the Central Regional Dental Testing Service or any other regional or state practical examination is removed. An examination approved by the Board under this section is required to be simulation-based or manikin-based clinical competency psychomotor examination that demonstrates evidence of psychometric soundness. The examination shall include a periodontal component, restorative component, prosthodontic component, endodontic component and remediation policy to address candidate deficiencies. The Board may review examinations annually and shall review examinations every 3 years. Sec. 2: Every applicant for a dental license shall have been actively engaged in the practice of dentistry for at least one year, instead of 3 years, under a license from another state/territory.
