The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB 156 narrows the exemptions for government liability in the Political Subdivisions Tort
Claims Act and State Tort Claims Act to allow for tort claims to be filed in instances in which
children are sexually assaulted on school grounds, in vehicles owned, leased, or contracted by
a school and being used for a school purpose, in a vehicle being driven for a school purposes
by a school employee or person designated by the school, or at a school-sponsored activity or
athletic event.
