Summary of purpose and/or changes:
This bill proposes changes to several statutes relating to the State Treasurer’s duties in administering unclaimed
property.
Section 1 modifies the public notice requirements, requiring that notice be published in every county in the state, not
merely counties where an owner is believed to reside. That notice would include instructions for searching for
unclaimed property listings rather than a list of persons believed to be the owners of unclaimed property.
Section 2 removes obsolete language and also rewords the twenty-four month restriction fee collection by commercial
or professional locators of property presumed to be abandoned.
Section 3 contains the repealer.

Page 1 f18ceb07b5fc96dfddb5161fb1f74ec6 This amendment strikes original section 1 and instead eliminates the specific notice period in existing law ("between
March 1 and March 10") and changes the newspaper notice requirement to be an annual notice in each county.
