The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB 256 would reinstate Nebraska as a member of the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail
Compact. LB 256 would also create the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Compact Cash
fund which could consist of gifts, grants, or bequests from any source including federal, state,
public and private sources to carry out passenger rail initiatives under the Compact.
