The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB267 requires that when an act of domestic violence is perpetrated by one tenant against
another household member, the perpetrator can be removed from the rental agreement, and
removed from the premises if there is a protection order or similar measure. The bill also
provides that the landlord shall install a new lock on the housing unit if the perpetrator is
removed from the premises, or if an act of domestic violence is perpetrated against a tenant
by someone who is not an occupant of the dwelling unit.
