LB271 adds a new section to Nebraska’s criminal code to prohibit interference with railroad infrastructure, equipment, and personnel, specifically criminalizing any unauthorized tampering with or damage to railroad tracks, communication systems, or other related facilities, and covering actions like detaching or disabling trains, assaulting railroad employees, interfering with rail signals, and placing hazardous substances near rail lines. Anyone who knowingly or reckl essly commits these acts, or conspires or threatens to do so, would be guilty of a Class IIIA felony.
