The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB 323 makes two changes regarding the Nebraska Department of Transportations building and road
construction projects. First, it allows the department to be able to publish notice of upcoming contract lettings
on the official webpage designated by the department, rather than only the official county newspaper, which can
delay projects due to different publication deadlines between various publications. It also updates the statutory
threshold over which the department must seek legislative consent in order to build building projects, aligning it
with every other state agency.€
These changes modernize statute and allow the department to contract and build projects more efficiently, by
reducing delays which can add time and in turn cost.€
