The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB44 amends Nebraskas postconviction relief laws to extend the one-year limitation period for filing motions
for relief. The bill adds a new provision allowing individuals to file for postconviction relief up until the age of
21 if their conviction occurred while they were minors.€
