Summary of purpose and/or changes:
LB 461 would amend the Cities of the First Class Firefighters Retirement Act to require that optional benefit forms
available to firefighters in cities of the first class also include annual payments, quarterly payments, and monthly
payments of the firefighter's retirement value. Currently, the only required optional benefit form under the Act is a
single lump-sum payment.
Explanation of amendments:
AM 426 provides that optional benefit forms shall include a single lump-sum payment or one or more partial payments
in an amount and frequency as elected by the firefighter.
AM 426 also adds an operative date of October 1, 2025.
