The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB467 amends the Utilization Review Act to require health carriers and utilization review
agents to implement and maintain a prior authorization application programming interface
(API) by January 1, 2028, in accordance with 45 C.F.R. 156.223(b), to streamline electronic
prior authorization requests. This requirement does not apply to prior authorization requests
for drug coverage.
