The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB 515 would allow a pharmacist who receives a request for a prescription refill, with no
remaining authorizations, to dispense an emergency refill of the lesser of a 30-day supply
of the prescription, or the amount dispensed on the most recent refill, if the prescribing
practitioner is not readily available. Such refills would only be available for non-controlled
substances and maintenance medications.
