The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB 523 would adopt the Student Teacher Compensation Act, which directs the Department of
Education to develop and implement a stipend program to compensate student teachers. Each
eligible student teacher that applies would receive a $4,000 stipend per teaching semester.
