The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB 53 would provide for criminal and civil immunity for any woman whose pregnancy results in any outcome
that does not result in a live birth. This bill is necessary to assure those who are pregnant and in need of
necessary maternal care, they will not be investigated or prosecuted for miscarriages.
