LB670 amends several sections to change provisions:
• relating to the required trainings for providers of child care & school-age care programs, teachers, paraeducators, school
resource officers, & security guards
• requiring each school district & each governing board of a non-public school to adopt a safety plan
• relating to the powers & duties of the state school security director & the State Fire Marshal
• relating to transportation of pupils by school bus
Each school board of a district & each governing board of a non-public school will adopt & maintain a safety plan & may use the model
safety plan developed by the state school security director as a guide.
Each school district will provide the school district's safety plan to
the school security director every three years.
The state school security director may provide suggestions and 20 offer training or other
resources relating to safety plans to any school.

The plan will be updated annually & will at a minimum include:
• Fire drills &instruction on fire dangers & methods of fire prevention
• Tornado or other weather-related preparedness drills & instruction
• Vehicle safety & emergency evacuation drills & instruction
• Any other safety & emergency drills or instruction deemed appropriate by the school board or governing board
The State Fire Marshal & their deputies & assistants will make recommendations to all public & & non -public schools regarding fire
drills, including the best practices & minimum safety standards.
