LB 698 amends provisions of the Nebraska Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
Section 1 adds “an individual who is employed in agricultural employment of a seasonal or other temporary nature” as well as “ an
individual under sixteen years of age” to the definition of “Employee” under the act.
Section 2 strikes provisions in Section 8, Initiative Law 2024, No. 436 that currently allow:
• An employee having a claim for a violation of the Nebraska Healthy Families and Workplaces Act may institute suit for legal
and equitable relief in the proper court; and,
• A civil action brought under this section shall be commenced no later than four calendar years after the cause of action
accrues.
The Department of Labor estimates no fiscal impact. This estimate appears to be reasonable.
