If a party liable for costs related to a hazardous materials or waste discharge or accident under RSA 154:8-a does not pay within 90 days, there may be addition fine revenue to a municipality in which the discharge occurred to reimburse the municipality for emergency response, mitigation and legal costs. The impact on local revenue is interminable as it is unknown how many of such accidents may occur and when the liable party will pay for the costs incurred. The Department of Safety states this bill will have no impact on the Department. AGENCIES CONTACTED: Department of Safety
