SENATE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE STATEMENT TO SENATE, No. 3673 with committee amendments STATE OF NEW JERSEY DATED: JUNE 1, 2023 The Senate Transportation Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 3673. As amended and reported, this bill designates the bridge over Crosswicks Creek on Interstate Highway Route 295 North as the “Benjamin Moore and the 693rd Sapper Company Memorial Highway” to honor the patriotism of Benjamin G. Moore, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, and the 693rd Sapper Company. Consistent with Department of Transportation policy and other road designations, the bill provides that State or other public funds are not to be used for producing, purchasing, or erecting signs bearing the designation for the “Benjamin Moore and the 693rd Sapper Company Memorial Highway.” The Commissioner of Transportation is authorized to receive financial assistance from private sources for the costs associated with producing, purchasing, erecting, and maintaining signs bearing the designation. The committee amended the bill to correctly reference the “693rd Sapper Company” instead of the “693rd Sappers Company,” as previously referenced.
