SENATE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE STATEMENT TO SENATE, No. 1433 STATE OF NEW JERSEY DATED: JANUARY 25, 2024 The Senate Transportation Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1433. As reported, this bill designates the bridge over Crosswicks Creek on Interstate Highway Route 295 North as the “Benjamin Moore and the 693rd Sapper Company Memorial Highway” to honor the patriotism of Benjamin G. Moore, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, and the 693rd Sapper Company. Consistent with Department of Transportation policy and other road designations, the bill provides that State or other public funds are not to be used for producing, purchasing, or erecting signs bearing the designation for the “Benjamin Moore and the 693rd Sapper Company Memorial Highway.” The Commissioner of Transportation is authorized to receive financial assistance from private sources for the costs associated with producing, purchasing, erecting, and maintaining signs bearing the designation. This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 2024-2025 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
