SENATE HEALTH, HUMAN SERVICES AND SENIOR CITIZENS COMMITTEE STATEMENT TO SENATE, No. 1493 with committee amendments STATE OF NEW JERSEY DATED: JANUARY 29, 2024 The Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 1493. As amended by the committee, this bill amends the “New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act,” P.L.2005, c.383 (C.26:3D-55 et seq.), to prohibit smoking in casinos and casino simulcasting facilities. This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 2024-2025 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed. COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS : The committee amendments revise the effective date of the bill to the 90th day after the date of enactment. As introduced, the bill would have taken effect immediately upon enactment.
