SENATE STATE GOVERNMENT, WAGERING, TOURISM & HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE STATEMENT TO SENATE, No. 1644 STATE OF NEW JERSEY DATED: FEBRUARY 12, 2024 The Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism & Historic Preservation Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 1644. This bill authorizes the State Treasurer, on behalf of the Department of Children and Families, to sell and convey property located at 1600 Brooks Boulevard in the Township of Hillsborough, Somerset County. The property contains 4.3± acres of land and improvements. The property is to be sold to the Borough of Manville for the appraised value of $870,000. If the property is not sold to the borough, then the property is to be sold through an Internet auction, with a minimum bid price of $870,000. The property is considered surplus to the needs of the State. The State House Commission will set the terms and conditions of the sale and conveyance. The property is the former site of the Hillsborough Social Services Office of the Department of Children and Families. The property is next to the Manville High School. This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 2024-2025 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
