AN ACT making an appropriation to the Department of Education 
for the purpose of awarding grants of money to Nevada 
school districts to provide universal free breakfast and 
lunch for Nevada pupils; and providing other matters 
properly relating thereto. 
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN 
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 
 
 Section 1.  1. There is hereby appropriated from the State 1 
General Fund to the Department of Education for the purpose of 2 
awarding grants of money to Nevada school districts to provide 3 
universal free breakfast and lunch to Nevada pupils the following 4 
sums: 5 
For the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 ............................. $50,000,000 6 
For the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 ............................. $50,000,000 7 
 2. The sums appropriated by subsection 1 are available for 8 
either fiscal year. Any remaining balance of those sums must not be 9 
committed for expenditure after June 30, 2025, by the entity to 10 
which the appropriation is made or any entity to which money from 11 
the appropriation is granted or otherwise transferred in any manner, 12 
and any portion of the appropriated money remaining must not be 13 
spent for any purpose after September 19, 2025, by either the entity 14 
to which the money was appropriated or the entity to which the 15

money was subsequently granted or transferred, and must be 1 
reverted to the State General Fund on or before September 19, 2025. 2 
 Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2023. 3
