AN ACT relating to natural resources; requiring the Joint Interim Standing Committee on Natural Resources to conduct an interim study of state agencies that regulate natural resources; and providing other matters properly relating thereto. Legislative Counsel’s Digest: Existing law creates the Joint Interim Standing Committee on Natural 1 Resources, consisting of certain members of the Assembly and Senate, to study 2 issues related to natural resources during the legislative interim period. (NRS 3 218E.320, 218E.330) This bill requires the Committee to conduct a study during 4 the 2023-2024 interim concerning state agencies that regulate natural resources in 5 this State. The study must include, without limitation, an examination of the 6 composition, mission and scope of such state agencies. The Committee must 7 examine, without limitation, the Board of Wildlife Commissioners, the 8 Commission on Mineral Resources, the State Department of Conservation and 9 Natural Resources and the State Environmental Commission. Further, the 10 Committee must submit a report of its findings and any recommendations for 11 legislation relating to the study to the 83rd Session of the Nevada Legislature. 12 – 2 – - *SB88* THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. 1. The Joint Interim Standing Committee on 1 Natural Resources shall conduct a study during the 2023-2024 2 interim concerning state agencies that regulate natural resources. 3 2. The study must include, without limitation, the examination 4 of the composition, mission and scope of state agencies that regulate 5 natural resources in this State. 6 3. The Committee shall examine, without limitation: 7 (a) The Board of Wildlife Commissioners; 8 (b) The Commission on Mineral Resources; 9 (c) The State Department of Conservation and Natural 10 Resources; and 11 (d) The State Environmental Commission. 12 4. The Committee shall include in the report required pursuant 13 to subsection 4 of NRS 218E.330 its findings and recommendations 14 for legislation relating to this study to the Director of the Legislative 15 Counsel for transmittal to the 83rd Session of the Legislature. 16 Sec. 2.
