SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION—Celebrating the life 
and accomplishments of beloved educator and Legislative 
Assistant Patricia “Pat” Jo Hutson. 
 WHEREAS, The members of the Nevada Legislature on this day 1 
remember and celebrate the life of Patricia “Pat” Jo Hutson; and 2 
 WHEREAS, Pat was born May 3, 1945, in Los Angeles, 3 
California, before eventually settling with her family in northern 4 
Nevada, where she graduated from Sparks High School and the 5 
University of Nevada, Reno; and 6 
 WHEREAS, Generations of young people were coached or taught 7 
by Pat over a career spanning 30 years at E. Otis Vaughn Middle 8 
School, Earl Wooster High School and Galena High School, during 9 
which she exhibited tremendous leadership qualities to her students 10 
and the new teachers that she mentored; and 11 
 WHEREAS, After retirement, Pat could be found cheering on her 12 
grandchildren at sporting events, traveling to exotic places and 13 
spending time with people close to her heart; and 14 
 WHEREAS, Pat also enjoyed volunteering for worthy causes, 15 
including her commitment to keep alive in Carson City, Nevada the 16 
once struggling Nu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society 17 
International, which is an honor society for key women educators; 18 
and 19

 WHEREAS, Pat became an essential part of the family in 1 
legislative service as she spent nine regular sessions aiding, 2 
corralling and supporting the Ohrenschall Legislators, beginning 3 
with former Assemblywoman Genie Ohrenschall Daykin and 4 
continuing through the 2019 Legislative Session; and 5 
 WHEREAS, During the pandemic, meet-ups with friends from 6 
both Pat’s time teaching and her time working for the Legislature 7 
ensured Pat was not isolated during her illness, and these gatherings 8 
evolved into the Wine Wednesday community of more than 30 9 
women coming together to support Pat and who, in turn, found 10 
support among each other; and 11 
 WHEREAS, An inspiration to so many, Pat showered those 12 
around her with her carefree spirit, unlimited kindness and 13 
unwavering love, often expressed in greeting cards of her own 14 
creation; and 15 
 WHEREAS, Married for over 50 years to her husband R.F. 16 
“Dick” Hutson, who passed away in 2018, Pat is survived by sons 17 
Richard and Steven Hutson and their families; and 18 
 WHEREAS, Nevada has lost a beloved daughter, mother, sister 19 
and wife, and dedicated professional to education and the 20 
Legislature with the passing of Pat on March 28, 2023; now, 21 
therefore, be it 22 
 RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, THE 23 
ASSEMBLY CONCURRING, That the members of the 82nd Session of 24 
the Nevada Legislature remember and celebrate the life of Patricia 25 
“Pat” Jo Hutson on this day and extend their deepest condolences to 26 
Pat’s family and friends; and be it further 27 
 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate prepare and 28 
transmit a copy of this resolution to Pat’s family; and be it further 29 
 RESOLVED, That this resolution becomes effective upon 30 
adoption. 31
