AN ACT making an appropriation to the Nevada Center for Civic 
Engagement to support civics education programs in 
elementary, junior high, middle and high schools in this 
State and to expand civics education programs for adults; 
and providing other matters properly relating thereto. 
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN 
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 
 
 Section 1.  1. There is hereby appropriated from the State 1 
General Fund to the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement the sum 2 
of $800,000 to support civics education programs, including, 3 
without limitation, National History Day, Civics in Action Summit, 4 
KidsVention and We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution 5 
Program, in Nevada’s elementary, junior high, middle and high 6 
schools and to expand civics education programs for adults. 7 
 2.  Of the sum appropriated by subsection 1, the Nevada Center 8 
for Civic Engagement shall not expend more than $400,000 in 9 
Fiscal Year 2025-2026. 10 
 3. Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1, 11 
the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement agrees to: 12 
 (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance 13 
Committee on or before December 18, 2026, that describes each 14 
expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1 15

from the date on which the money was received by the Nevada 1 
Center for Civic Engagement through December 1, 2026; 2 
 (b) Prepare and transmit a final report to the Interim Finance 3 
Committee on or before September 17, 2027, that describes each 4 
expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1 5 
from the date on which the money was received by the Nevada 6 
Center for Civic Engagement through June 30, 2027; and 7 
 (c) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available 8 
to the Legislative Auditor any of the books, accounts, claims, 9 
reports, vouchers or other records of information, confidential or 10 
otherwise, of the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement, regardless 11 
of their form or location, that the Legislative Auditor deems 12 
necessary to conduct an audit of the use of the money appropriated 13 
pursuant to subsection 1. 14 
 4. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by 15 
subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 16 
2027, by the entity to which the appropriation is made or any entity 17 
to which money from the appropriation is granted or otherwise 18 
transferred in any manner, and any portion of the appropriated 19 
money remaining must not be spent for any purpose after  20 
September 17, 2027, by either the entity to which the money was 21 
appropriated or the entity to which the money was subsequently 22 
granted or transferred, and must be reverted to the State General 23 
Fund on or before September 17, 2027. 24 
 Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval. 25
