AN ACT relating to governmental entities; requiring certain units of
government of this State to accept certain forms of
payment; and providing other matters properly relating
thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
This bill requires, with certain exceptions, each officer, agency, branch, board, 1
commission, department, division, bureau, district or other unit of government of 2
this State to accept, as payment for any fee, tax or other debt, payment by debit 3
card, credit card, check, money order, electronic transfer of money or cash. 4
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 237 of NRS is hereby amended by adding 1
thereto a new section to read as follows: 2
1. Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of 3
subsection 1 of NRS 360A.040, each governmental agency shall 4
accept as payment for any fee, tax or other debt to the 5
governmental agency payment by debit card, credit card, check, 6
money order, electronic transfer of money or cash. 7
2. As used in this section: 8
(a) “Electronic transfer of money” has the meaning ascribed 9
to it in NRS 353.1467. 10
