AN ACT relating to time; exempting the State of Nevada from the 
provisions of federal law requiring daylight saving time; 
and providing other matters properly relating thereto. 
Legislative Counsel’s Digest: 
 Existing federal law requires the annual advancement of the standard time for 1 
each time zone by 1 hour commencing at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March of 2 
each year and ending at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November of each year, 3 
commonly referred to as daylight saving time. (15 U.S.C. § 260a(a)) Under existing 4 
federal law, a state may by state law exempt itself and its political subdivisions 5 
from the provisions requiring the advancement of time and observe the prescribed 6 
standard time for the entire calendar year. (15 U.S.C. § 260a) 7 
 This bill exempts Nevada from the federal provisions requiring the observance 8 
of daylight saving time. Nevada would remain on Pacific Standard Time 9 
throughout the entire year. 10 
 
 
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN 
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 
 
 Section 1.  Chapter 234 of NRS is hereby amended by adding 1 
thereto a new section to read as follows: 2 
 1. The State of Nevada exempts itself from the provisions of 3 
15 U.S.C. § 260a(a) requiring the advancement of time during the 4 
period commencing at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March of 5 
each year and ending at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November of 6 
each year, commonly known as daylight saving time. 7

 2. During the period described in subsection 1, the State of 1 
Nevada and all political subdivisions thereof, shall observe the 2 
standard time otherwise applicable for the time zone in which the 3 
State is situated in accordance with the provisions of 15 U.S.C. §§ 4 
260 et seq., the solar time of the 120th meridian west of 5 
Greenwich, commonly known as Pacific Standard Time. 6 
 Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2025. 7
