Requires the state university of New York to examine and conduct a study on the creation of a designated equity-centered honors college for the state university college at Geneseo for all attending students; requires a report on the findings of such study to be submitted within 180 days of the effective date.
Amends the definitions of diagnostic pharmaceuticals, topical therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents for treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension as they relate to the certification to use therapeutic drugs in the practice of optometry.
Requires pharmacies that are discontinuing to notify customers of such discontinuance and provide information including locations of other nearby pharmacies.
Extends authorization for certain health care professionals licensed to practice in other jurisdictions to practice in this state in connection with an event sanctioned by the New York Road Runners.
Relates to a podiatry study and report by the commissioner of education, in consultation with the commissioner of health on the implementation of chapter 438 of the laws of 2012, as amended, authorizing the issuance of a privilege to perform podiatric standard or advanced ankle surgery and the impact of granting such a privilege on access to and quality of podiatric ankle surgery; makes related provisions.
Requires institutions of higher education to implement a policy that documentation of an individualized education program (IEP) is sufficient proof that a student enrolled in or admitted to an institution of higher education has a disability.
Requires each institution within the state university of New York and the city university of New York to have at least one vending machine making emergency contraception available for purchase.
Modifies the requirements for the New York state science, technology, engineering and mathematics incentive program for when an award gets converted to a student loan.
Establishes liaison officers, regional contacts and campus contacts to assist college students experiencing homelessness to find housing; prioritizes access to housing; waives certain fees for students experiencing homelessness; establishes a pilot program to increase enrollment, attendance and success in college for students experiencing homelessness.
Expands the eligibility period for indigent legal service attorneys to receive certain loan forgiveness; increases loan reimbursement for certain attorneys who work in legal services with indigent clients.
Requires at least a ratio of one clinical, non-student mental health staff member per one thousand students on all SUNY and CUNY campuses and for state colleges and universities to update such ratio every five years.
Relates to certified public accountants; requires that a majority of the ownership of a professional service corporation formed to lawfully engage in the practice of public accountancy as a firm are individuals licensed to practice public accountancy in some state; enacts similar provisions for partnerships and LLCs.
