Provides that family members of volunteer or paid professional firefighters who died in the line of duty may obtain a "Survivor of the Bravest" license plate; provides for the annual service charge collected to be deposited into the department of motor vehicles distinctive license plate development fund.
Establishes a distinctive "New York recycles" license plate, with the proceeds from the additional $25 annual service charge therefor to be deposited into the solid waste account of the environmental protection fund for municipal waste reduction or recycling projects.
Renames the Governor Mario M. Cuomo bridge the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Tappan Zee bridge; directs the commissioner of transportation to provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system.
Authorizes that the commissioner of transportation is authorized and directed to assume jurisdiction for state highway purposes over the town road described as follows: all of Griffith road from the intersection with state routes 19 and 39 in the town of Pike easterly to its terminus at state route 19A in the town of Genesee Falls.
Increases reimbursement rates paid by the state to cities for repair and maintenance of state arterials; provides rate would be raised to one dollar and eighty cents from eighty-five cents per square yard of the pavement area that is included in the state highway system and an additional twenty cents, up from ten cents, per square yard of such pavement area where such pavement area is located on any elevated bridge.
Establishes an online insurance verification system for proof of insurance; allows the use of third-party vendors and providers; requires motor vehicle insurers to provide policy information to the online verification system; establishes an online insurance verification advisory council; requires certain information to be confidential and proprietary information which is not subject to disclosure.
Establishes distinctive "Long Island Sound" license plates; creates the "Long Island Sound environmental fund" for the department of environmental conservation to distribute moneys to not-for-profit corporations, educational organizations or local governments undertaking projects aimed at the beautification of and environmental improvements to the Long Island Sound.
Relates to city reimbursement for state highway construction within such cities; raises such rate from eighty-five cents to one dollar and eighty cents per square yard of the pavement area.
Designates a portion of the state highway system as the "Firefighter Peyton L. S. Morse Memorial Highway" in the hamlet of La Fargeville, town of Orleans, Jefferson county.
