Authorizes orders of protection to provide for personal security devices; orders the respondent to cover the costs associated with security devices; provides if the payment of such costs is awarded the appropriate social services district shall be contacted and directed to pay the petitioner for such costs upon submission of proof of purchase.
Directs the superintendent of state police to develop and institute child-sensitive arrest policies and procedures for instances where police are arresting an individual who is a parent, guardian or other person legally charged with the care or custody of a child.
Exempts private investigators from restrictions on possessing a weapon in sensitive and restrictive locations while traveling to and from and during the course of their employment and at any necessary and appropriate location during work hours; clarifies that a security guard may possess a weapon going to and from work.
Expands the description of certain services which are not prohibited by statutes governing the practice of nursing, including direct support staff to nurses.
Extends the period given to certain applicants for public assistance benefits to request a fair hearing on a determination of their ability to participate in work activities from ten days to sixty days or within sixty days of receipt of a work activity assignment.
Requires retailers of micromobility devices, bicycles with electric assist and limited use motorcycles powered with lithium-ion batteries, and lithium-ion batteries intended for use in such devices or bicycles to provide customers with an operating manual.
Relates to motions to vacate judgment; authorizes filing motions to vacate judgment for a conviction that was subsequently decriminalized; authorizes motions to vacate judgment to be filed at any time after entry of a judgment obtained at trial or by plea.
Relates to the presidential primary, to provide for the election of delegates to a national party convention or a national party conference in 2024; schedules the presidential primary election for April 2, 2024; updates the political calendar accordingly; requires cure affirmations for curing ballots to be received by the board of elections no later than 7 business days after the board's mailing of the curable rejection notice or the day before the election, whichever is later; provides that any write-in vote for a candidate whether or not such candidate's name is on the ballot for that contest shall be counted for such candidate unless such write-in vote creates an invalid overvote in the contest; allows ballot envelopes without a postmark to be a curable defect; requires additional attestations to cure such defect; relates to the ability and proceeding to contest certain certificates to fill a vacancy in a designation; provides that absentee ballots may be canvassed at the poll site on election day; provides that no board of elections shall commence a full manual recount of a particular contest unless and until such board has completed and announced the results of the recanvas otherwise required, for each applicable election district.
Amends provisions relating to public campaign financing; changes certain thresholds and procedures; permits retention of matching funds for future use; specifies when a candidate is opposed by a competitive candidate; requires a disclosure on political communications.
