Enacts the medical civil rights act, in relation to the provision of emergency medical services to persons in contact with or in the custody or under the control of a police officer.
Classifies falsely reporting child abuse or maltreatment or abuse or neglect of a vulnerable person as a family offense under the concurrent jurisdiction of the family court and the criminal courts.
Requires businesses that allow automatic renewals, continuous service offers, and automatic subscription renewals to provide notice regarding cancelling such renewals, services, or subscriptions.
Regulates the use of artificial intelligence in aiding decisions on rental housing and loans; requires a study on the impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning on housing discrimination and redlining.
Relates to enacting "Sahim's law"; allows family members to bring civil actions on behalf of incarcerated individuals; establishes certain confidentiality requirements regarding civil actions brought against correction facility staff by or on behalf of incarcerated individuals.
Prohibits third-party food delivery platforms from employing algorithms that promote unsafe operation of e-bikes and scooters to improve safety for third-party food deliveries.
Relates to human trafficking awareness and training for public transit employees; mandates displaying human trafficking resource materials created by the state public transportation safety board and the department of transportation in all public transit modes of transportation.
Directs DOCCS, in collaboration with OTDA, OMH and OASAS, to establish a 5-year reintegration pilot program for individuals being released from correctional facilities to provide supports and services to prepare for release, assist with reintegration into the community, and reduce recidivism.
Provides assistance to incarcerated individuals being released from correctional facilities for enrollment in safety net assistance, public assistance, supplemental assistance program (SNAP), special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children (WIC), the home energy assistance program (HEAP), supplemental security income, and state supplemental payments.
Requires the office of addiction services and supports to collect certain demographic data for incarcerated individuals in medication assisted treatment programs.
Requires the commissioner of education to establish and enforce rules and regulations to incorporate at least a three credit course devoted to the instructional techniques necessary for effective literacy instruction which shall include delivering structured, systematic, explicit, evidence-based instruction aligned with the science of reading for prospective teachers.
Authorizes the department of transportation to establish and implement a state memorial sign program to memorialize persons who died due to injuries sustained in a fatal motor vehicle crash on state highways.
Requires the state office for the aging to publish a "Guide to Actions When Someone Close Dies"; establishes a temporary special advisory committee to create and publish such guide.
