Authorizes the village of Atlantic Beach, county of Nassau to impose a three percent hotel, motel and beach club tax; defines "beach club" as a facility formed, organized or operated by any person, firm or corporation, located on or contiguous to an ocean beach, permitting sunbathing, swimming and other allied recreation activities, including such uses operated by a hotel, cooperative complex or other entity; makes related provisions.
Provides that beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year, certain graduate students shall be required to pay 25% of all current and future mandatory university fees; provides that in the 2027-2028 academic year and thereafter, no mandatory university fees shall be charged, with the exclusion of the graduate student association student activity fee.
Provides that for the purposes of educational leave, an eligible incarcerated individual shall include an incarcerated individual who is within two years of being an eligible incarcerated individual.
Relates to methods of billing and/or paying rent; provides that a landlord shall accept payment of rent by personal check and by mail; provides exceptions to such payment options when a check has been returned for insufficient funds or payment has been stopped on a check, draft or order.
Authorizes municipalities in the county of Orange to add unpaid housing code violation penalties, costs and fines to such municipalities' annual tax levy in accordance with applicable law.
Establishes requirements for library material in public school libraries and public libraries; requires the development of policies for removal of materials; establishes protections for school library media specialists and librarians against harassment and discrimination in employment related to the refusal to remove library materials.
Relates to granting local law enforcement agencies the authority to enforce federal immigration law under the 287(g) program in order to enhance the enforcement of federal immigration laws regarding individuals engaged in criminal activity.
Modifies the tax law to include elective cosmetic surgery as a taxable service; but not including, reconstructive procedures necessary to treat congenital anomalies, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, or disease.
Establishes the rapid employment assistance and counseling hub (REACH) program to dispatch a mobile unit to provide information, assistance and other services concerning unemployment compensation insurance at the request of a legislator or official of a municipality.
