A   R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring the Orrville Public Library on its 
Centennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th 
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Orrville 
Public Library on the auspicious occasion of its One Hundredth 
Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting 
tribute to the Orrville Public Library, for throughout its history, 
this fine institution has attained a remarkable record of service to 
the area. Begun in 1925 as a collection of six hundred books in a 
vacant room at the high school, the library dedicated its present 
building in 1941, and with the vision of becoming an expansive 
community resource, it completed an addition in 1977 and another 
addition and renovation in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Orrville Public Library has 
fostered education, culture, and individual growth and achievement by 
providing a variety of innovative and beneficial programs and 
services. As a focal point for many local activities and a valuable 
instrument for community improvement, the library has earned the 
respect and appreciation of countless patrons and has set an example 
of excellence that is worthy of emulation; and
WHEREAS, Public libraries play an important role in today’s 
society, serving as receptacles of shared knowledge, information, and 
ideas. They provide a means of enjoyment, self-advancement, and 
intellectual development for all individuals, and as repositories for 
the best of our nation’s intellectual endeavors, they are vital to the 
preservation of our country’s heritage, principles, and ideals. We are 
proud to note that it is through the efforts of institutions such as

the Orrville Public Library that our state has maintained its 
reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to 
live and work; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 
the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 
commend the Orrville Public Library on its One Hundredth Anniversary 
and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Orrville Public 
Library.
