An Act relating to meat inspections; authorizing the 
Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and 
Forestry to review methods of remote viewing or other 
digital inspection; requiring the Department to apply 
for use of inspection technology from the applicable 
federal agency; providing for promulgation of rules; 
limiting remote inspections to intrastate commerce 
unless otherwise approved; requiring the Department 
to keep videos confidential; providing for 
codification; and providing an effectiv e date. 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-181.2 of Title 2, unless there 
is created a duplication in nu mbering, reads as follows: 
A.  The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, a nd Forestry 
shall review methods of remo te viewing or other digital inspection 
technology for meat and poultry product inspections. 
B.  If the Department determines a suitable method of remote 
viewing or other digital inspection technology upon completion of 
the review, then the Department shall make application to the

federal agency governing meat and poultry inspection to request use 
of the technology. 
C.  Upon approval by the federal agency g overning meat and 
poultry inspection, the Department shall promulgate rules to 
implement the use of remote viewing or other digital inspection 
technology. 
D.  The use of remote viewing or other digital inspection 
technology shall be restricted to inspections of meat and poultry 
products sold only in intrastate commerce, unless the federal agency 
governing meat and poultry inspection approves it for interstate 
commerce. 
E.  The videos from remote viewing or digital inspection 
obtained pursuant to this section shall be kept confidential by the 
Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
